Traditional Durumagi
The traditional overcoat worn by Korean men for ceremonies and cold weather celebrations. Worn over the jeogori and baji, it is the piece that completes the formal men's look.
Starting from $185
Men’s hanbok is built from a small number of pieces that combine in many ways. The jeogori (short jacket) and baji (loose-cut trousers) form the base. Over them goes the durumagi or dopo, a long outer coat, for formal occasions or colder weather.
For ceremonial events, the durumagi gives way to the danryeong, a court-formal coat with a rank badge on the chest. The danryeong is typically worn at weddings during the paebaek bow ceremony.
Modern men’s hanbok has trimmed silhouettes, narrower trousers, and softer colors than the historical originals. We carry both ends, a contemporary cotton-silk dopo in sage for everyday, a traditional silk danryeong in deep indigo for the wedding day.
All pieces inquire-only. Text (707) 718-3579.

For everyday, a jeogori and baji in matching tones (charcoal on charcoal, ivory on ivory) reads modern and clean. Layer with a sage or indigo dopo when the mornings cool.
For weddings, the danryeong is worn with a black gat hat and white socks (beoseon). For grandfathers and fathers of the groom, a deep indigo durumagi over a cream set is appropriate.
Sizing for men is most sensitive at the shoulder width and trouser inseam. Send us those two numbers first; we can fine-tune the rest on a measuring call.
Hanbok is meant to be fitted to the person wearing it. Eric works with each customer personally on measurements, so the piece arrives ready to wear. New to measuring yourself? Use the sizing guide or book a 15-minute video call.
Linen and cotton men’s pieces can be hand-washed; wool and silk should be dry cleaned. The gat (hat) is delicate, store in its own box, away from humidity.
Most men’s hanbok wears in beautifully with use. Don’t hide it away; it is meant to be lived in.
No cart, no checkout, every hanbok is made to order in Seoul, inspected in San Mateo, and shipped to your door in 3 to 4 weeks. Wedding commissions, 4 to 6 weeks.
