Sizing guide

Four measurements, one well-fitting hanbok.

Hanbok forgives more than Western tailoring, but it is not shapeless. A handful of measurements is enough for us to fit you precisely from San Mateo. If you are unsure, book a 15-minute video call and we will walk you through it.

Adults · what we ask for

How to measure for hanbok.

Bust / chest

Around the fullest part, tape parallel to the floor. Do not pull tight, the jeogori should breathe.

Waist

At the natural waist, where you would tie a chima (skirt). This is the most important number for skirt fall.

Skirt length

From under the bust to where you want the hem, typically the top of the foot for ceremonial wear.

Shoulder to wrist

Arm slightly bent. We use this for sleeve length and the cuff opening.

Children & dol

For little ones.

For children’s hanbok we ask for age, height, and chest circumference. For dol (first birthday) we additionally ask for head circumference if a jobawi or gulle is part of the set. Babies grow quickly, tell us the event date and we will size for the day, not the order date.
